Abstract | Phillis, Frank & Bob - to be freed 1/1/1799. Alice, Sal & Mable -to be freed in 1802. Othello & Bet - to be freed in 1804. Passa, Hagar & Flor - to be freed in 1806. Hector, Nanny & Sidney - to be freed in 1808. Jenny, Esther & Paris - to be freed in 1810. Cassah, Will & Dick - to be freed in 1813. Darky, Jacob & Ennals - to be freed in 1817. Rebecca, Rachel, Kate & Jesse - to be freed in 1820. All issue of above Negroes to be freed on 1st of January of the years they arrive at age 25. Juba - who never told him a falsity or betrayed a confidence & from his pleasing spirit & cheerful disposition lead testator to provided for his future welfare - to be apprenticed to house carpenter or joiner & to be free at end of apprenticeship 1/1/1805 & given tools. Little Boy Anthony - to be apprenticed for not less than 6 years on same condition as for his brother Juba & to to freed 1/1/1818. Should testator's adopted children wish to manumit any of above Negroes before date deemed laudable. If agreeable, males should be apprenticed as carpenter, bricklayers, and other named occumpations & if apprenticed then to serve 3 years longer than above dates. Executors ordered to remove any Negroes from their masters should it be found they are misused or abused. |
