Message Body: You will please excuse me for not writing to you sooner than now I have been sick so that I could not attend to the [??]. I state to you that Mr. E.H. Monteith sent us an order to the lumber merchant to furnish us the lumber for a school house 30 by 40 and specified in the order all the different sizes of lumber necessary for a building of the said size house he also promised to give us the other materials needed for the house and forward to us to send a vessel and order by the captain and the other materials wouldbe sent to us and we have got the cash for the windows We would have had the house completed if we could have got the other materials so that the School could have commenced the first of October.
The carpenters could not begin to work until they [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] got the frames for windows & [[strikethrough]] dor [[/strikethrough]] doors the lumber merchant says they cannot alter the size of the bill as it is now filled up according to order from the Bureau

Message Body: I drop you a few lines hoping they may find you enjoying the blessing of good health. I state to you that we have our School house nearly finished. Maj W.L. Vanderlip have been heare & have seen the building and he will inform you of the same I wish to know the time it will be convenant for you to dedicate our School house for us you will please let me know and we wish to try & have a large congregation to that that occasion & I hope you will bring some distinguish Gentleman with you on that occasion

Message Abstract: Acknowledges receipt of letter offering to send them a teacher for three months. States that he has submitted the question to the people and they are in favor of having one: that [[underlined]] George White [[/underlined]] is one of the trustees of the school at Dames Quarter and will answer if addressed.
States that the School-house at Princess Ann is finished with the exception of plastering.
Message Body: I drop you a few lines hoping they will find you injoying the blessing of good health Dear Sir I received your letter Stating that you would send us a colored teacher to teach for us for three month namely July August & September I have mention the same to our people & so far they are in favour of the resolution
You can write to George White one of the trustees of the colored school in Dames Quarter & he will give you an answer to the same I also State to you that our School house is finished exept the plastering you will please let me know when you can come over so that we can notify the same so as to have a large gathering on that occasion
Maj W.L. Vanderlip was over heare a few week ago & saw our School house and I wrote & sent you a letter by him concerning our School house you will please write and let me heare from you
