Abstract	William W. Handy files answer [see previous 2 entries]. Priscilla Hansbury testifies; was well acquainted with Capt. Jesse Hughes & resided in family of Marcellus Jones for 15 years before her marriage; she married a week (?) before Capt. Hughes' death; she lived with Capt. Hughes from June of the year he died, 1838 until his death; knows that he gave slave Margaret to Alie Jones, his granddaughter. [There are several add'l entries to follow]: Zacheus Street (?) testifies; heard Mary Jones ask her father Capt. Jesse Hughes, to give her negro girl Margaret; he said, 'I have given you negroes enough; if I give it to anyone, I will give it to Alice.' Caleb Hughes testifies: Margaret was property of Jesse Hughes; lived at Marcellus Jones' for several years; he claimed as his property. John R. Dashiell testifies; lived with Marcellus Jones as a child in 1832, & for several years afterward; Marcellus Jones said she was his, never said she belonged to Alice; thinks he heard Jesse Hughes say he gave her to Marellus Jones. Levi (?) T. Hughes testifies; lived with Jesse Hughes from time he was a small boy, until a few months before Jesse's death; heard him say that he had given Margaret to Marcellus & Mary Jones; Capt. Jones talked of selling her. Petition dismissed
