Message Abstract | States in reply, that the work on the school-house is progressing and thinks it will be completed by the first of September; that they are delayed for want of money; that the lumber bill is due in one month &c &c. |
Message Body | Dear Sir: I am in receipt of yours of the 25th, and I take this early opportunity of replying. Mr. Canady informs me that they are getting along as fast as possible with the School building, but that they could get along faster were money more plentiful with them: he says they will have it shut in in about three days and that its entire completion will be accomplished at least by the first of September if not before. Money is their only drawback. He expresses a desire to know upon what day you will be in Centreville, that he may continue to meet you there, and if convenient to yourself, accompany you to the School building that you may see what has been done. He informs me that the Lumber bill is due in a month's time and that the property of two of the Trustees will be levied on if it is not paid. |
