Message Abstract	States that her school will close on the 27th inst. : that she is about to start for home. Inquires if she will receive her transportation fee &c. before she leaves.
Message Body	I take this method to inform you that the school here will close on Monday next the 27th, and I would like to leave here for New Bedford about the middle of the week. Please write me concerning my transportation, whether I will receive it before I leave here or not.

Message Abstract States that she has a fine school at Chestertown &c. Forwards bill of her travelling expenses from her home in New Bedford, Mass. to her school at Emmittsburg, and from thence to Chestertown amounting to $24.00 which she expects the society to pay. Has been informed that the society pays transportation of of teachers to return home.

Message Body Our school this month is quite large for this season of the year. The children were delighted with the idea of attending school again, some of them are quite advanced and take great interest in attending the school and are making great progress. We celebrate the Ratification of the Fifteenth Amendment on the 19th of this month and we were so busy making preperations for the occasion that I could not have any school that week the pupils and I took a part in helping to decorate the wagons. We made a grand appearance and every thing passed off quietly and peacefully and in a creditable manner. The Procession was said to be the grandest sight ever witnessed in this town.
As I did not receive transportation last Fall and knowing that it is the intention of the Association to pay the expenses one way, I have sent a bill of my traveling expenses from New Bedford my place of residence to Emmittsburg and from there thence to Chestertown.

Message Body Our school closed on the 27the inst. with forty-one scholars. I closed before the last of the month because the ceiling of the school-room is so low that the room at this season of the year is very warm and uncomfortable for both teacher and scholars. Taking all things into consideration the progress of the school for this month has exceeded my expectations. Please send my Salary for this month to Chestertwon in care of Mr. William Perkins or to my home address 114 South 7th st New Bedford Mass.
