Message Abstract States that they have just closed all Freedman's schools in the State except the one at Middletown: that there has been a manifest improvement in the children, and an increasing [strikethrough] intrest [/strikethrough] interest on the part of the parents, but they still need more help &c.
Message Body We have just closed all the schools for Freedmen in this State except that at Middletown There has been a manifest improvement in in the children besides the increasing interest taken by the parent to have them Educated, but there remains much to be done for children and parents- I think the 15th amenendment will be the weapon to abolish some of the unjust and oppressive laws and substitue others that will provide for the liberal Education of this long degraded people even if there should not be a change of Politics in State Legislature With many thanks from the poor Colored people for the favors of the past year I remain Thy Friend
