Abstract Information about the Enslaved Person/People | per transciber: transcription of document belonging to Mr. Lee Trower of rose Cottage in Eastville, Va. Document not a deed or will of emancipation, but shows several slaves taking their freedom druing time of Civile War. Some slaves, without manumission papers went to fight in Civil War; some, in the confusion, left the area while others stayed in Northampton Co & worked for people other than their owners. Cannot be sure that they did not continue to be slaves to other families until war was over. [in several parts for Nottingham[ |
