Abstract To my wife Ann B. Joynes…my Negro man Jim (Satchell)&…To my daughter Virgina S. Joynes all my houses & lots in the Village of Onancock… & Negro girl Catharine & $3000. …To my son Thomas R. Joynes my plantation called Sealand…& also my Negro man Jim Hatton... . To my son Edward S. Joynes my plantation called Montpelier..., my Negro man Lewis (Jr.).... . To my son Levin S. Joynes my Negro man Abel... . I have permitted my son Thomas for several years to have possession of several slaves which in fact are hired to him although no obligation was taken for their hire.... . I declare that I have heretofore given to my son my Negroes Betsy & Her child Esther, my boy Jacob and my girl Judith & all the rest of the Negroes now in his possession which belonged to me are still my property & are subject to disposition of this will.
