Abstract To my granddaughter Charlotte A. Bayne…& my Negro boy Jim & girl Victoria, but if she dies without issue, then I set free the Negroes. … to the children of my son John T.R. Joynes as shall be living at my death Negroes Louis, Mary, Fanny, Charles, Bill & Girod Glover. Management and control of the Negroes to my friend John B. Ailworth, feeling assured from his character & the kindness he which he has ever manifested towards his own slaves that those therein entrusted to him will be humanely and properly treated & that they shall not pass into the hands or be subject to the control of any person who may be appointed by or may qualifiy in the court as guardians of said children of my said son. should there be any remaining estate, then $40 to my Negro Daniel who will be free at my death by deed executed by me in my life time & the balance to the children of my son John T.R. Joynes & subject to the same priviso as the Negroes are hereinbefore given to them.
