| Abstract | Stephen a black man freed by Pitts & Henny George, a free black woman, made oath befroe John Burton, a Justice of the Peace, on 7 June 1817 that they were present together at the house of Cabord, a black man freed by Henry Fletcher, during his last sickness, who died the sunday morning preceding Easter, that about ten days before the death of Cabord he told them that in case of his death he wished his daughter Tabitha, who is a slave of Richard Bloxom & who was then present & waiting upon him to have all his property. ... at the same time he told said Tabitha that she must remember to think of .... his other children Sarah, a slave of Spencer Drummond & Comfort a slave of Justice Bundick & the said Stephen further said to Cabord that perhaps Tabitha , being a slave would not get his property & the said Cabord said that the money would get anything or would get her freedom. |
