Abstract To my nephew James W. Custis the whole of my property at the time of my death (except my slaves & some legacies). I hereby set free from slavery my Negro man James & give him $50. I set free my Negro girl Lucy. I also set free on the day which I die the whole of the slaves which formerly belonged to estate of Bagwell Wharton dec'd & whose unexpired term of service belongs to me.
