Abstract of Record Zipporah Bishop, by Ephraim K. Wilson, Esq. her attorney, vs Lemuel P. Spence, adm. of John Bishop; petition states that Zipporah's grandfather, Charles Godfrey, who died in Jan. 1812, directed in his will to divide negroes among grand children, by John Bishop, my father & William Dale, exes., & sons-in-law of said Charles; negroes were sold; my father, John Bishop, bought negroes Pleasant and her chld Mary, Joshua & Tabitha; John Bishop died intestate in Oct. 1820; Lemuel P. Spence, Esq., became adm. of John Bishop, and included all negroes in his invenotry; Pleasant has since then had issue, Joe, Amanda & Milcah; subpoena issued for Lemuel P. Spence, adm. of John Bishop, Sr. Lemuel P. Spence sworn before John P. Slemaker; judgement for claimant.
