Message Body This morning at 9 o'clock I opened school there being nineteen scholars present ages ranging from ten years to about twenty-two; they seem anxious and very apt. Many are without books others are supplied with part of the books they [[strikethrough]] shall [[/strikethrough]] need. Not knowing to whom I should send for books to I determined to send a list of what I shall need, to you hoping that if it was not your place to send them you would oblige me by sending the list to whoever has charge of the same - Mr. Davis visited me at the school-house today and told me that if you would send the things to Baltimore he would forward them to me. Today I went through the tedious work of classifying my school, have divided it into three classes. Hoping you will favor me with an early reply and also with Mrs. Lowell's (I think the name is correct) address List Roll Book -- 1 Intermediate Reader (Hilliards) 1/2 doz. Second class " " [[ditto for Reader]] [[ditto for (Hilliards)]] 1/2 " [[ditto for doz.]] Third " " " [[ditto for class]] [[ditto for Reader]] [[ditto for (Hilliards)]] 1/2 " [[ditto for doz.]] Davies Elements of written Arith. 1 1/2 doz.
