Message Abstract | States that the colored people of that place are very desirous of educating their children, and wish to be informed if the Bureau will aid them to purchase books. |
Message Body | Some of the Colored people of this neighborhood (having no schools for the education of their children) desire me to ask information of your Department how much or in what way they could get assistance if you can afford them any. The Cold. people seems very anxious about the education of their children. I think sometimes more than white people - If the Bureau can afford them any assistance, you will confer a favor by giving them the necessary information how they shall proceed to obtain it. |
