Message Abstract States in reply, that he has been waiting an answer from Mr. [[underlined]] Black [[/underlined]] of Berlin, to whom he had written in relation to opening a school there, but as he does not reply, and as his school at Princess Ann is increasing in numbers, he has concluded to remain; that Mr [[underlined]] McGrath [[/underlined]] wants to know when the Supt. of Education will visit them.
Message Body Your letter of 28th ult. came to hand. I would have answered it sooner, but was waiting for an answer from Mr. Black; I wrote to him to find out whether I could get the school or not. I stated to him, that I would be filling the place of one that was sent by you. But who failed to go. I did this, in order that there would be no misunderstanding with the people of Berlin, should I go there. Another reason why I did not write before was, that the school here begins to increase, & I wanted to see if I could get the School large enough to keep me here. If so I would stay. Now I am pretty [[insert]] well [[/insert]] satisfied that the trouble is over with here, so I'll stay. I have not heard from Mr. Black, as yet. As Mr. Black, has delayed to let me hear from him, & the school is increasing here, so I think it best for me to remain where I am, as the time is short. I am very sorry that I had to send Dr. Hatfield, such a report as I did, but I thought it best to let him know the true state of things here. Again, I did not think it prudent for me to say nothing about how I was geting on, but I hope to make a better report next time.
