Was not able to obtain school education, but learned to read & write on his own.
Family and Other Information Parents: John Saunders, Sr. & Ann Saunders. Spouse: Rebecca Morgan md. 1/26/1841 who predeceased him. 2nd spouse: Martha Dean md 6/11/1857 who died after 26 years marriage. Brother: George Saunders with whom he spent his latter days
