Served Snow Hill Circuit, Leemont, Va, Royal Oak, Md; appointed principal of Baltlimore City Academy & professor of historical theology & add'l. Returned to pastorate. Charges: Pocomoke City, Md; Salisbury, Md; Crisfield, Md; Haven, Wilmington, Del; Saint Michaels, Md; Bainbridge St., Philadlephia, Superintendent Wilmington; St. Daniels; Chester, Pa; Princess Anne, Md; Marion Station, Md; Royal Oak, Md; Ridgely, Md; Coleman, Md; Milford, Del; Odessa Del; Smyrna, Del; Harrington, Del; Laurel, Del; Doleman, Md. Retired 1942.
Family and Other Information Parents: Sampson Nutter, a slave, purchased his freedom 7/11/1862. His mother, Sallie Jane Nutter was free-born. Spouse: Annie E. King of Allen, Wicomico County, Md - md. 3/25/1880 - 10 children (4 boys/6 girls) Celebrated 69th weddng anniversary 3/25/1949 - longest recorded in Confernce. Survived by wife, sons Francis M. & Matthew H - latter member & secretary of Philadelphia A.M.E. Conference, daughters: Mrs. Laura T. Clark, Mrs. Estella V. Payne, Mrs. Addella N. James, Mrs. Velma D. Johnson, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.
