Attended public schools and later the Institute for Colored Youth of Philadelphia & Morgan College. Taught in public schools of Maryland and Virginia. While teaching at Miles River, he entered the Theological school of Morgan College. Admitted to conference in 1896. Preached first sermon in Whatcoat Methodist Church, Dover, Del. First appointment at John Wesley Mission, New Haven, Conn. Statistical secretary of Delaware Conference over 20 yrs.
