Church Service, Charges Served, Affiliated Locations, and Other Biographical Information Born of slave parents, but remained with her mother. Her master was kind to his slaves & gave them opportunity best suited for him. Martha remained in house with other children & learned to read & write. Married after emanicapation to minister Isaac Henry White of the adjoining plantation. She lived in Salisbury until 1915 until friends took her to Wilmington to Home for the Aged.
Family and Other Information Parents: Henry & Wilhelmina Spencer (their 3rd chld) Spouse: Isaac Henry White md. 3/23/1865. He died Nov. 1910 at Salisbury. Survived by daughter Mrs. Mary L. Turner, Ocean City, N.J., grandaughter, Mrs. Martha Viola Archer, Easton, Pa, 1 greatgrandson, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
