Graduated from Wesleyan University Middletown. Was commisioned Chaplain of Eighth Massachusetts Volunteers, first troops that passed through Baltimore during Civil War. Went to Africa & became sick there in 1876.
Family and Other Information His parents were from New England; grandfather was Chaplain in Revolution & spent winter with General Washington at Valley Forge.
