Abstract An Indenture made between the Overseers of the Poor and James Ballard t o carry out an order made in County Court dated 20 September 1807 to bind a Mulatto boy Benjamin Ballard until the age of twenty one, unto James Ballard who will provide sufficient Meat, Drink, Washing, Lodging, and Wearing Apparel, teach him reading, writing and arithmetic, the trade of a Farmer and also pay him Twelve Dollars at the expiration of the said time.
