Abstract Alexander Knotts to John Merritt - cons. $425 - his interest in a negro girl for a stated time of servitude - Whereas Abraham Jump by his will of 24 Dec 1850 devised to his daughter Josephine A. Jump his negro girl Nelly, to serve until 1 Jan 1873, at which time she is to be free - and whereas the said Josephine A. Jump, on 2 Jan 1854 transferred her right to James G. Redden - "I, James G. Redden, in cons. of $425, convey to Alexander Knotts (now and for more than one year a bona fide resident of the State of Maryland) all his interest in Nelly for and during her period of servitude."
