Abstract	James Carter, adm., Trustee to sell negro slaves of Edward B. Hardcastle to Ricksum Webb - on 6 Nov 1843 sold to Webb as a slave for life and for the sum of $200, a slave who has since been discovered not to be a slave for life but in fact will be free at age 30 - it is agreed that the sale should be rescinded and whereas Carter hath since sold the slave for and during the residue of the term of service at the price of $133.60 which as been paid and the further cons. of $1, Carter conveys negro boy James, property of Edward B. Hardcastle, aged 11 on 25 Sept last, to serve until 25 Sept 1862 at which time he will be free, according to the terms of a deed of manumission of Mary Orrell, 29 July 1822.
