| Abstract | Chas. Thorndike of Boston co. of Suffolk, Massachusetts, mcht, and Mary Marth Thorndike, his wife and Frederick Purnell of Caroline Co. - on 1 Jan 1824 prior to marriage of Chas. & Mary, Mary inherited several estates of personal property & of certain slaves that were carried out after marriage. Now in cons of $1 paid to them by Frederick Purnell, they release property to him and also slaves attached to the properties. Slaves: Rachel 45; Semanin ? 36; Maria of Rachel 18; Job 16; Emanuel 30; Nathan 35; Lydia 50; Hesse 38, her child Maria 16; Nancy 12; Clarissa 25; Sarah 50; Mary Ann 12; Cassa 2; Chas. 2; Phil. 10; rufus 6; London 5; Melissa 5; Stephen 3; Robert 2; Adeline 4 mos; Venus 2 mos; Phil 2nd 8; Lorenzo 4; Theodore 4; William 5; Irving 20; livestock & other items. This was division of estate of Benjamin Sylvester and Isaac Purnell, dec'd. |
